Faculty student Jonathan Corliss dates Dorothy Carlsson to gain her father's endorsement. She is murdered by Jonathan when Dorothy informs Jonathan she is pregnant and her dad will deny her inheritance when he finds out, but he stages her death as a suicide. Since Jonathan works his way on Mr. Carlsson's payroll, Dorothy's twin sister, Ellen, investigates the suicide.
