After three university students move in an old house off campusthey unknowingly unleash a supernatural entity known as The Bye Bye Man, that comes once they detect his name to prey upon them. The friends must try to rescue each other, all the while keeping The Bye Bye Man's presence a secret to rescue the others by the same mortal fate.
