Mack Phillips spirals to a profound depression causing him to question his ancestral beliefs, after suffering a household catastrophe. He also receives a letter recommending him to an abandoned shack deep within the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack experiences an inexplicable trio of strangers led by a woman called Papa and journeys to the shack. Through this meeting, Mack finds crucial truths which change his own own life and may transform his understanding of his catastrophe.
