After their father is called into work, two young boys, both Danny and Walter, are abandoned in the care of their sister, Lisa, and told they must stay indoors. A day, Danny and walter, who expect, are shocked if they begin playing with Zathura, a space-themed board game, which they realize has powers if their home is shot into space. With the assistance of an astronaut, the boys attempt to come home.
